Hey everyone! I have so much to write about this week! This week was SO amazing. I've been looking forward to this email all day. You have no idea. :-)
Friends from India:
This week we had something exciting happen every single day. I want to start with Wednesday though because I think that was the most exciting one. :-) So, Kuwahara shimai and I went to this train station nearby called "Kasai" to hand out flyers for Eikaiwa (English Class). While we were there, I noticed this lady who was obviously a foreigner wandering around the station. She looked a little lost. I really wanted to go talk to her, but you know, missionaries have to stay within sight and sound of their companions. I couldn't get this woman without leaving Kuwahara shimai (who was distracted talking to someone else). This woman went up to one of the station workers and handed him this piece of paper looking completely lost. He tried to help her and I saw the frantic look in his eyes as he realized "Oh crap... this woman doesn't speak Japanese..." I kept my eyes on this lady hoping to make eye contact so that I could help. (Why I didn't just yell I'm not sure. xD) Luckily the (really panicked) man looked at me, got this look of relief on his face, and motioned for her to come to me. It turned out I was right, this lady was completely lost. She and her husband were here on vacation from India, they'd never been to Japan before, didn't speak a lick of Japanese, and had no idea how to find their hotel. I took her and her husband over to Kuwahara shimai, explained the situation to her in Japanese, and we decided to make the 30 minute walk with this woman and her husband to their hotel. :-) So Kuwahara shimai and I grabbed their luggage and started off! The whole time the woman kept saying "Thank God, Thank God." I talked with the woman the whole way to the hotel and when we got there she hugged Kuwahara shimai and I really tightly and said "Thank God there were two beautiful girls like you two in the world willing to help someone in need." :-) We gave her a flyer (xD) and told her that if she ever needed anything to please call us.
I thought that would be the last time I saw her. Turns out Heavenly Father has a different plan. :-)
This morning while I was getting ready, I got a call from President Budge's assistants. They said "A woman from India called and said she met you and Kuwahara shimai. She said you helped them with something and she has a present she wants to give you. Here's her number, please call her." So today, we went to go see her and her husband one last time before they go back to India. She was so sweet and it was SO good to see them again. I love her so much! :-D
Saturday:
So Saturday was just exciting all around. Saturday was the day of Transfer calls so if Kuwahara shimai or I was transfering we were going to get the call saying it on Saturday morning. Friday night, both of us were SO nervous. We were excited, but scared all at the same time. I think I was worse off than she was since it was my first "real" transfer call, but yeah. Calls are supposed to come Saturday mornings between 6:30-7:30ish... Well, the call didn't come. We were so confused. It turned out that the Assistants and President Budge were in the middle of last minute transfers and they just hadn't gotten a chance to call everyone. They sent out an email to the whole mission saying the calls would come "soon". So Kuwahra shimai and I waited for about 3 hours for the call... We flinched anytime the phone went off. It ended up we got the call during Illya Kyodai's fitness class.
"Kuwahara shimai... You will be transferring to Shibuya.
Sister Grosland... You will be staying in Urayasu."
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!
I can't even tell you how happy I was. I was SO excited. SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited! :-D So all day Saturday and Sunday was spent letting Kuwahara shimai say goodbye to all of the ward members and our investigators and such. The whole time I had to try to hide just how excited I was because Kuwahra shimai was all upset about it. Oh well.
Neeeew Companion!:
So as of yesterday I have a new companion. :-) Here name is Sister Lundy. She's from Colorado and is freaking awesome. Last night we talked for 4 hours straight getting to know each other. Here's what we've decided in that time. I'm Rapunzel and she's Cinderella and we're both the best kind of nerdy. :-) To give you an example of how just awesome this girl is, I have to tell you a story from last night.
For one reason or another, the Elders were talking about the Tron soundtrack. Lundy shimai smiles and says a bit under her breath "Ah! I love soundtracks!" I turned to her super excited and said "You DO!? I LOVE SOUNDTRACKS!" Then she turned to me, got this huge grin and said "What?! NO way!" We started talking about our favorite soundtracks (Her favorite video game soundtrack was Mass Effect and Assassins Creed 2. ;D) and she asked me who my favorite composer was. When I said Hans Zimmer, she looked at me and said "Okay, I can just die right now. Isn't he amazing!?" I said "Yeah! It's been SO weird being here were nobody has heard of him! They all ask me 'Who's Hans Zimmer?'" She laughed and said "I know right? That's like asking who Mozart was!" xD Oh my gosh I love her. :-)
Kyudosha Update:
Helen: She's made HUGE progress this week! She has stopped drinking Coffee! Talk about a miracle! She said she's started drinking Hot Chocolate instead! Thank goodness! We're still trying to help her through the Black Tea addiction, but she says she's excited to be baptized on the 23rd of December. :-)
Tamae: Tamae has been a little sick the last couple of days. :( But when we met with her on Sunday she said she's FOR SURE getting baptized on the 23 of December. She said she wants Illya kyodai to baptize her. We're so excited for her. :-)
Ayaka: She's also making a lot of progress. She called us this week and said that she wants to be baptized, but she's not sure what church she wants to be baptized into yet. She says that she's considering our church, but she doesn't want to join until she's sure it's true. Major step though!
Those are the three big investigators right now. :-)
And that was my week! It was an awesome week. I'm SO excited to work with Lundy shimai here in Urayasu for another 6 weeks. It's going to be such a fun transfer and I know we're going to see a ton of miracles! Assuming we can learn to speak Japanese. ;) I love you all so much! I'm sorry I've fallen behind on letters lately... I'm going to spend most of today writing letters so hopefully you'll be getting some soon! I love you!!!!!
