Hey Everybody!
First off, Thank you for the letters! And those of you who haven't written, write me dang it! ;)
I have a few stories for you all! first, I've decided to be completely honest in these emails. Im not going to pretend I had a fantastic week when I didnt. This week was hard. Really hard. I felt really down. I missed home, i missed my family and friends, i felt overwhelmed by everything. However, looking back on this week now, i can see that everytime i was down and depressed, Heavenly Father sent something/someone to cheer me up. Ive had some awesome talks with my doryo and my sempai. Ive heard some amazing talks by people like Elaine S. Dalton and Sheri Dew. And of course the scriptures. Its amazing how many ways heavenly father can answer prayers!
Okay, story time.
Musical Bathroom:
So pretty much everyone on our floor is amazing at singing. Like, incredible. Im like, the only one who is only okay at singing. So every morning while getting ready we sing! Not just any songs, Disney songs and Hymns. Seriously the coolest part of the mornings. Like, im pretty sure we had a 4 part harmony going on at one point. So. Awesome.
Harukawa/Muroi:
We got 2 new Kyudosha yesterday! Their names are Harukawa-san and Muroi-san. Harukawa-san is 21, loves music and sports, and comes from Japan. The missionaries gave him a plan of salvation pamphlet and he wanted to hear more. He's awesome. Tomorrow we actually meet Muroi-san so ill have to tell you more about him later. :) Its so cool to be teaching Kyudosha already. Its difficult though. Our Kyudosha only speak Nihongo so we have to teach in Nihongo. That can be frustrating sometimes. Ill know what i want to say in english, demo i dont know how to say it in Nihongo...
Hallway Chatter:
Something my sister asked me was if everyone speaks different languages in the hallways. Yes they do! We have this thing we call SYL. Speak Your Language. Basically we're supposed to speak whatever language your learning as often as possible. So for example, whenever someone holds the dor for Long-Shimai or I we respond with "Arigato!" most people just give us weird looks, demo every now and then someone will respond in some weird language. I love sitting in the cafeteria listening to the different languages/accents around me. Love it!
Dooseldorf:
For all of my space center people. There's an Elder in my zone who grew up in Dooseldorf, Germany. How cool is that?!
Mission President:
Not much to say here. I met my mission president this week. He's awesome. I love him and his wife already. :) His name is President Budge.
Chair Drama:
This was one of my favorite parts of the week. First you need to know the characters of this story. Long-shimai, my doryo. Young-choro and his doryo, choro in the district next door. Todd-sensei, our teacher (coolest teacher ever by the way). Black-sensei, super buff and scary teacher from Young-choro's district... and i think thats it.
So Todd-sensei keeps complaining about not having a rolling chair. Long-shimai and i decided we'd try to get him a rolling chair. Turns out, Black-sensei had a rolling chair. Keep in mind we had no idea who Black-sensei was at this point. we decided to "borrow" his chair. So, we took it and hid in a room close by until Todd-sensei could get there.
Once Todd-sensei got there we told him we had a suprise for him! We rolled out the chair and you should have seen the look on his face. It was like when I see anything tangled-related xD, He grabbed the chair and started rolling around the room.... Then it hit him. (he spoke japanese this whole time, by the way) He asked where we got the chair. We told him we got it from black-sensei's room.
He freaked! "He's going to kill me!" He instantly jumped out of the chair just as Young-choro and his Doryo came in. They seriously looked petrified. "You don't understand! He will kill us!"
Well, Long-shimai wouldnt have any of that. So she ran and sat in the chair yelling "He cant touch a Shimai [sister]! AHAHAHA!" Young-choro and his doryo started rolling her in the chair out the door where they ran into... Black-sensei. HE'S HUGE! AND SCARY! Luckily, he just smiled evily and said "Just this once."
So we survived, demo now we know. Don't mess with Black-sensei's chair.
Anyway! That was my week! Write me if you want to hear more! :P
Love,
Christine
